Tenants and Tenant Settings

A tenant in Kanalo is primarily a method of separating different configurations, settings, and users within a single Kanalo account. An account can create multiple tenants to logically separate different applications and generally support a robust Software Development Life Cycle. You can switch between an account's tenants and modify the settings of each one in the dashboard.

Tenant settings

The following settings are available in the Tenant Settings section of the dashboard.

Environment Mode

Tenants can be set to one of two environment modes: "dev" or "prod", by changing the toggle in the configuration tab of the dashboard. Tenants in dev(elopment) mode are subject to the usage restrictions for Kanalo free plans (limited connections and heavy rate limiting) but have log streaming capability for debugging, and are designed for architecting out applications and building early proofs of concepts. Even if belonging to a paid account, tenants in dev mode do not consume Kanalo Units. Prod(uction) mode removes the restrictions of dev mode and is suitable for production usage. Tenants in prod mode will consume Kanalo Units corresponding to their usage, and require a paid account.

New tenants will always start in dev mode by default.

Geo Network

Geo Network deploys your Kanalo tenant for worldwide availability. This will increase speed for real-time applications that need global distribution, as well as Pipeline execution speed for operations that can stay in the local node. Geo Network requires an Enterprise plan.
